WELCOME TO THE ToonZA WILDERNESS PROGRAMME

After working in Muizenberg with The Hive, Amava Oluntu and The Commons since 2017, ToonZA has relocated to Wilderness on the Garden Route between George and Knysna. We are thrilled to announce our association with Cabesa Gallery, owned and run by Carole Durrant and Biance Ralph, the energetic organisers of the annual Wilderness Art Festival.

I’ll be running series of monthly ToonZA classes on Friday afternoons from 2pm-4:30pm in the Cabesa studio at 223 Leila’s Lane, around the corner from the Wilderness Hotel where the annual festival is held.

Our 2025 programme builds on the experience of running our two groups — the Comic Art Training (CAT) group for those whose main intent is to improve their narrative drawing skills, and the Graphic Novel Group (GNG!) for those who can draw really well and want to create and publish their own comics, or develop visual messaging skills to advance their careers.

Our theme for ’25 is UNDERSTANDING GRAPHIC NARRATIVE, which may sound a bit academic, but it’s the lingua franca of the challenging world in which we, as artists, live, work and communicate today.

There are so many ways these days to combine words and graphics in our professional work, our inspirational ideas, our relationships and getting it all out there into the world!

Please get in touch with me on ndmazin@gmail.com or 082 899 3091 on WhatsApp if you’re keen to chat about comics, graphic literature and all that stuff.

To book for one of our ToonZA Wilderness courses, please contact Carole Durrant on
